If you are homeless, it can be difficult to obtain identification, as many forms of identification require a permanent address. However, there are still options available:
Birth certificate: If you don’t have any form of identification, obtaining a copy of your birth certificate is usually the first step. You can usually request a copy of your birth certificate from the vital records office in the state where you were born.
State ID or driver’s license: Once you have a birth certificate, you can use it to apply for a state identification card or driver’s license. You will need to bring proof of your identity and residence to the DMV. If you are homeless, you may be able to use a homeless shelter as your residence.
Passport: If you are a U.S. citizen, you can also apply for a passport. You will need to provide proof of your citizenship, such as a birth certificate or naturalization certificate, and proof of your identity.
