MoochList.com is now LIVE!

Holy shit! LOL ok ok… so if you’re unaware of the idea behind MoochList…

The purpose of MoochList is to provide a place where homeless and low-income individuals, along with non-profit organizations advocating homelessness and assisting low-income families, can search for and/or request needed items to help them survive and improve lives.

Whether you’re looking for a warm place to sleep, or in need of food donations, a job or even a vehicle, MoochList is the place to look first. Everything listed here will be offered for free, and the cost of listing your items or requests is also free.

The idea came to me in early 2011, and the plan was to launch the website in April. But because this project has been developed by my lonesome, I’ve had to put it on hold until I either found someone to help with the programming, or figure out another way to publish the site while keeping the same focus on the simple concept of helping those in need. Less than a week ago, I realized I could in fact launch the site without paying $50/hr to a programmer. So after updating the theme, adding in the plugins, test running the site throughout dozens of times, I’m ready to show you a brand new way to donate your new or used items to a family with a small child in need, or to a non-profit helping a homeless vet remind him that he is still loved and appreciated.

I encourage you to go to MoochList.com and help me test run this new website!

If you have anything to donate at all, even if you don’t know who could want it, please Join and post an ad and see if anyone out there would like to have it. Donate your old clothes, or a new desk to a shelter. Offer your open land full of apple and orange trees to your community and allow them to collect fresh fruit. Honestly, the possibilities are endless.

If you come across an error, or would like to recommend an idea, please either contact me here, or via the Contact page at MoochList.com. Now go make a difference in someone’s life, you’ll feel good about it too, I promise!
