Great News RE: Single Mom w/ 2 Daughters!

I greatly appreciate you coming here to get the latest on the situation with the homeless single mom with 2 daughters which I’ve been trying to help in any way I can for the past several weeks. And today I have some great news to share with you guys… they found a room!!!

After becoming homeless unexpectedly in Los Angeles, the single mom went to welfare, called 211 and did the whole routine in connecting with organizations who might be able to help them. Luckily she was able to get $400/mo from welfare for housing, and 3 hotel vouchers good for 16 days. All this time she was also searching for a room, since she could pay up to $400/mo in cash. But when the 16 days were up, they had to leave the hotel, hoping to find a shelter, or some kind of roof over their heads.

Keeping all of you updated on their situation via my Blog, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, helped me collect enough monetary donations to keep them in their hotel room for a few more days. And I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart! I want you to know if it weren’t for your generosity, they may not have gotten the room which they are comfortably sleeping in right now. The room wasn’t vacant until a few days ago…it simply became available at the last minute, right when they needed it the most. After driving around Los Angeles with everything they owned in their car, they went back to welfare, but was still unable to find a safe place for her and her kids to stay. Finally, they received word of the newly vacant room. The single mom negotiated down the price of the room with the home owner, since their asking price was double what she could afford. And since they knew of her situation, they invited her and her 2 daughters to move in and pay what they could, when they could.

As my friend Shay likes to say… Awesomeness!

I am so happy these 3 girls no longer have to worry or be scared that they have nowhere to sleep. Now they can focus on their lives. The mom can focus on starting the job promised to her in January, and getting her daughters back in school. Things are still tough, but tonight they are no longer homeless. A big reason for that is you.

Stay passionate my friends, and remember how easy it is to help someone else. Stay informed, be aware, and help others in any way, shape or form. You may be surprised how your little contribution can potentially save a life.
